Key points
Stress prevention needs personal support and suitable working conditions. A relaxation class alone cannot remove persistently excessive workload.

Demands are not automatically harmful
BAuA initially uses “psychological demands” as a neutral term for external influences at work. Their effects depend on intensity, duration, resources and personal circumstances. A demanding task is not the same as harmful overload.
Difficulties may arise when demands stay high and decision-making scope or recovery is insufficient. Focus on specific situations rather than broad labels when planning changes.
From general stress to work design
- Review workload and available time together.
- Clarify priorities and responsibilities explicitly.
- Identify frequent interruptions and avoidable duplication.
- Organize cover, breaks and availability reliably.
- Take feedback seriously and review agreed changes.
These are prompts for organizational discussion, not diagnosis or public disclosure of symptoms. Facilitation should distinguish working conditions from individual health concerns.
Make personal support accessible
Voluntary movement, relaxation and advice can complement workplace changes. Employees need to use them without pressure and know where to seek confidential help.
Professional support should be accessible for persistent symptoms. Managers do not need a diagnostic role: they can discuss demands, change conditions and signpost suitable services. Review whether agreed changes were implemented. High course bookings alone do not answer that question.
